10 Jul How do I find the truth about God?
What is your idea of God? And why does it matter? Today, atheist organizations and some individuals see God as a superstitious myth. Others believe God is real, but envision Him as a person, a divine Father with a human form, or perhaps as Jesus. This may be comforting, but does it make sense? And how can you feel safe and loved if you’ve been taught that God is both wrathful and merciful?
Where can you find the truth about God?
Mary Baker Eddy dedicated her primary work, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, “to sincere seekers for truth.”
In a glossary of Bible terms, Eddy draws on a deeply spiritual understanding of Bible revelation to define the nature of God in these terms:
“God. The great I Am; the all-knowing, all-seeing, all-acting, all-wise, all-loving, and eternal; Principle; Mind; Soul; Spirit; Life; Truth; Love; all substance; intelligence.” (Science and Health, p. 587).
Mankind and thoughtful individuals have always desired to find ever more satisfying answers to deep question. Each seeker’s search is private and sacred. Christ Jesus spoke of God as “my Father and your Father,” and his disciple John wrote that “God is love”, itself.
Christian Science approaches the unsurpassed love and power to heal evident in the life of Christ Jesus from the standpoint of divine law. It invites us to see for ourselves how understanding the perfection of God and His spiritual creation promotes health goodness and happiness.
