08 Nov Thanksgiving day service
“Praise the Lord! Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever. Who can utter the mighty acts of the Lord? …” (Psalm 106:1,2)
What a blessing! Pausing to give thanks is especially needed in times of stress. The simple act of turning thought to acknowledge the ever-presence of God, of Love, Life and goodness lifts our hearts. For many, this year has included stress, and perhaps some painful loss. But right now and right here we are called to look and listen for signs of love and goodness flowing ceaselessly from our divine Father-Mother and embracing us all.
We invite you to join us for a 10:30 am Thanksgiving Day Service at our church. (following our state guidelines) with distanced seating in the pews. We will sing hymns of praise and thanks, hear a thanksgiving day proclamation, and listen to a special, thanksgiving Bible lesson. There will be time for those who wish to express thanks suited to the occasion. If you prefer to give thanks at home, we invite you to listen to an online Thanksgiving service at 2 pm EST by going to the online services at christianscience.com..
If you would like to read and reflect on the Thanksgiving Bible lesson on your own, you can request a copy at the Christian Science Reading Room in our church.. Please call 540-942-2040 during Reading Room hours (Mondays and Thursdays, 10:30-1:30).
