This event, now past, was well attended and inspiring for all present.   We hope you can make it to another Christian Science lecture in the area.  Check “lectures” on our Prayer and Healing page for past and future lectures in the region.

Guest speaker Mary Alice Rose of Maryland spoke on “The Science of Christianity”  Sunday afternoon, May 1st, at the Waynesboro Public Library (600 South Wayne Avenue). The well-attended program began at 2:30 in the community meeting room.

What’s the connection?  In her talk, Rose explored the significance of the spiritual law, “God is Love”, from the book of First John in the Bible, and shared examples to illustrate that law in action.  As a former physical scientist, she sees parallels between the study of physical science and the study of Christian Science, and shared those insights.

Rose’s early interest in science and technology lead her to a 20-year career in applied physical science. She worked as a meteorologist for the National Severe Storms Laboratory and as a manager developing the ground system for the Hubble Space Telescope.  In 2002, she made the transition to the full-time ministry as a Christian Science practitioner. She is now an authorized teacher of this Science, and lectures internationally as a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship.

Another, videotaped, talk by Rose — on the relevance of church in our digital age may be viewed on You-tube.

The Waynesboro lecture was co-sponsored by this church (First Church of Christ, Scientist, Waynesboro) and First Church of Christ, Scientist, Charlottesville.
