Guest speaker Mary Alice Rose of Maryland spoke on “The Science of Christianity” Sunday afternoon, May 1st, at the Waynesboro Public Library (600 South Wayne Avenue). The well-attended program began at 2:30 in the community meeting room.
Science and Christianity. What’s the connection? In her talk, Rose explored the significance of the spiritual law, “God is Love”, from the book of First John in the Bible, and shared examples to illustrate that law in action. As a former physical scientist, she sees parallels between the study of physical science and the study of Christian Science, and shared those insights.
Rose’s early interest in science and technology lead her to a 20-year career in applied physical science. She worked as a meteorologist for the National Severe Storms Laboratory and as a manager developing the ground system for the Hubble Space Telescope. In 2002, she made the transition to the full-time ministry as a Christian Science practitioner. She is now an authorized teacher of this Science, and lectures internationally as a member of the Christian Science Board of Lectureship.
